The Pituitary gland and its function:

Pituitary gland is the master gland.  It has great power to regulate the other body organs. The function of the pituitary is very important for overall well-being.

The pituitary gland is divided into two parts, front (anterior) and back (posterior).

The anterior part produces several types of important hormones -

1. Adrenocorticotropin - Adrenocorticotropin or ACTH

2. Follicle-stimulating or FSH

3. Prolactin

4. Luteinizing hormone or LH

5. Growth hormone or GH

6. Thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH

The posterior pituitary produces two hormones:

1. Antidiuretic hormone or ADH - ADH, which is also called vasopressin.

2. Oxytocin - Oxytocin is ovaries stimulating hormones.

The production of pituitary hormones less or more, affected the related glands, leading to hormone imbalance in the body.

For instances, too much growth hormone can cause acromegaly in adults (excessive growth) while too little growth hormone may cause dwarfisms (very short), so the proper function of the pituitary is necessary.
